How to Start a Dine In Check

This lesson will show you how to enter a Dine-In check in Toast.


Beginning a Dine-In Check in Toast





*Depending on your role within the location and the job code that you are currently clocked in under, you may see slight variation in the number of available buttons and other functions. This document was written from the perspective of someone clocked in as a server.

1. Log into the terminal by swiping your employee card.  (if you see a clock in screen then you must clock in prior to beginning a check)  See: Clocking In 

2. Select “Table Service” from the menu screen




3. Select the table where the party is seated from the map presented.  If your location is split into multiple service areas then you will have a tab at the top that allows you to switch between service areas.  For example:  some of our locations have patios or upstairs seating and thus separate service areas.



4. Once you have selected a table, you will be prompted for the number of guests at the table.  Please be as accurate as you can be with the information at hand.  If the party size increases or decreases you will have the ability to adjust the number later. See: Change Guest Count




5. Once you have entered the number of guests, you will be ready to enter the menu items that the guest has ordered.  You should now see a screen with a ticket pad on the left and menu items on the right. If you are using a handheld device, then the ticket pad will be on the top and the menu items will be on the bottom of the screen.
