How to begin a Paid To-Go or Pick-Up Order

This lesson covers how to begin a paid to-go and pick-up order in Toast. This also includes looking up a customer record, creating a new customer record, and applying a customer to an order.


 Beginning a Paid To-Go or Pick-Up Check in Toast




1. Log into the terminal as the TOGO user. Example: # 1212

2. Make sure you are in “Quick Order” from the main menu screen




3. You will now see the menu.  But, we need to add a customer to the order. You add a customer by clicking the ellipsis in the upper right hand corner of the terminal screen.




4.  Then select "Change Customer" from the drop-down menu.




5. Now, you will be prompted to search for a customer:  You can search for a customer by "telephone", "email", or "name" by using the drop-down box on the left side of the info field to toggle between the different search options. 

Example interaction with the guest:

You: Thanks for calling Hideaway Pizza on [Location Name], my name is Brent.  How may I help you?

Guest:  I would like to place a pick-up order.

You:  Great!  May I start with your phone number?




Guest: My phone number is 918-252-5252

You: Thanks! (type the number in to the search field)













You: May I ask for your first and last name for the order?  (enter the entire first and last name, not just their initials)

You:  Great! What can we get you today?

 

 Now it is time to enter the order.



* If the customer begins ordering before giving you their information, no worries. Toast won't let you forget, as it'll prompt you for their information whenever you try to Stay or Send the check to the kitchen.



After the guest is done ordering, click Stay, which sends the check to the kitchen but leaves the order open on the screen for you to continue viewing.
The Stay button does a couple of things:

  1. It'll prompt you for the order type
  2. Customer information (if not already entered)
  3. Automatically applies any lunch discounts
  4. Lastly, it will show you the Ready At time for the order








You will be prompted for the Dining Option here, whether it was a Pick Up order over the phone or a Take Out order at the cash register. This is also the area for selecting an Online Ordering order type.




If you did not grab the customer's information at the beginning of the check, you will be prompted for that information after selecting the order type.



After this information has been entered, Toast will automatically apply any lunch discounts and will show you the Ready At time for this order. You can now properly quote the guest their total and time.
