Toast allows you to schedule orders for future dates. This lesson will show you how to access future orders in Toast and how to manage those orders.
How to Retrieve a Future Order
Future orders can be retrieved at anytime. You may want to retrieve the order so you can update the items ordered or change the time that the order should be ready. You can also retrieve the order so it can be fired to the kitchen early so they can get started. It is always a good idea to check for future orders first thing in the morning so that a catering order doesn't sneak up on you.
Step 1:
Login to any Toast terminal and select the Toast icon from the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Step 2:
From the setting screen locate the "Mode" section and select "Pending Orders"
Step 3:
The "Pending Orders" screen has a couple of tabs: "Needs Approval" and "Future Checks"
Needs Approval: Orders that do not meet automatic approval rules such as online orders that are very large or orders that were not processed due to network connectivity issues will appear here. You should also see alerts on the screen indicating that an order requires approval. We should have few if any of these orders as we generally do not restrict order size online, however it is important to be aware of this behavior.
Future Checks: Orders that are for the future appear here. The orders will appear hear until they are scheduled to fire to the kitchen.
New Order - A shortcut to Quick Order Mode to place a new order (Got to sell that pizza!)
Dates - Edit the range of dates by which Future Orders are shown
Change Schedule - Edit the existing future Date, Time and Prep Time for the selected order. (this only works if you have selected an order)
Throttle Online Orders - This allows you to throttle the current online order time by a set period of time.
Update - Identical to the Update function in Previous Checks, this allow the user to enter the order in ordering mode and make changes to the order (add/remove items, edit modifiers, etc)
Pay($) - Identical to the Update function of Previous Checks, this allows the user to enter the payment mode of the order to take a payment, edit an existing payment, void payment, etc.
