Updated about 3 years ago

This lesson covers how to set the promise time in toast.

Setting Promise Times or Default POS Times in Toast

Toast allows you to set the current default promise time for To-Go and Pick-Up orders from within the Toast POS system.

1. Login into Toasttab.com via the manager workstation or your phone.

* There are two methods to set promise times in Toast.  Only Method 1 will also set your in store promise time.  Please use method 1.  Method 2 is described here for information purposes only.

METHOD 1

1. You will then see the Toast Setup Menu.  (options available to you may vary based on your security level)

Locate the "Other Setup" menu and select "Prep / Delivery Times

2.  Now you will see the current "POS Prep Time" or Promise Time listed.

  • POS Prep Time is the time that is displayed to servers on the POS and the time that your fire now terminal uses to know when to send future and scheduled orders to the kitchen.
  • Online Ordering/Order API Prep Time is the time that is shown as the minimum or ASAP time to guests through our online and voice ordering systems.

3. You may update update the promise time by editing the value listed in the "POS Prep Time" field.  Once you have made the change click the "Save" button and then "Publish" to push your changes to all of the POS terminals in your restaurant.

Now that you have updated the POS promise time servers will be able to see the promise time for their orders by hitting "Stay" when sending an order to the kitchen.  Toast will then include the current promise time at the bottom of the ticket display.  The kitchen will always see the promise time listed on the bottom of the kitchen print outs.

The kitchen will see something like this, printed on the bottom of their print out.

Method 2

Method 2 uses a "quick" setting control at the top of the toast admin interface.  It is meant to quickly control online order times.  It does not change your in store promise times and so will leave part of the job undone.  Toast does plan to expand this functionality but for now please use Method 1, when setting your online order promise times.

1. When you login to the Toast Admin interface you will see a control that looks like this

2. By changing the "Add Delay" drop down you are able to expand your online order promise time.

3. Once you have made your selection you must publish the change.

4. Once your change has been published you will see a confirmation box at the top of the screen.
